Which serialization for BPMN?

Mino Bernardi, 4 months, 4 weeks

Hello everyone,

I'm here looking for "inspiration" and advices :)

I'm a researcher working on a management platform for Broadband Wireless networks. My system offers a GUI to the "network administrator" to visually define the management processes that have to be taken care of. By pressing a button, the administrator can deploy these workflows to the devices running the network, where an agent will execute them.

Now, the workflow language I thought of is a subset of BPMN.

Since BPMN2.0 is on the way, with its own "serialization" mechanism, I'm wondering which is the smartest way for me to export the workflows in order to send them to the remote agents. XPDL? BPEL? the new BPMN2.0?

If anyone has hints or pointers, thanks very much!

XPDL 2.1 is fine for a subset of BPMN. For BPMN2.0 a new version of XPDL (2.2) is currently worked on. If I got you right, you model and execute the models within your proprietary system. You might go on and wait for the dust to settle around the new standards. That won't happen in 2009.
