A beginner question to which I still cannot find a proper answer:

What's the difference between XPDL (2.2) and the BPMN2 built-in XML representation? Are they just competitors or there are reason for adopting one instead of the other? Since BPMN2 includes an XML serialization, will there still be a point for XPDL?
